Tomamu is a modern Hokkaido ski resort with a distinctive mix of powder skiing, family facilities and easy resort living. Set in central Hokkaido within the Hokkaido Powder Belt, the ski area spreads across Tomamu Mountain and Tower Mountain and offers 29 runs, 21.5 km of pistes and 585 m of vertical. The longest linked descent reaches 4.2 km, giving beginners and intermediates plenty of room to cruise, while steeper ungroomed terrain and dedicated powder options add interest for stronger skiers.
The resort works especially well for families and mixed-ability groups. Beginner areas, lessons and Adventure Mountain make progression approachable, while confident skiers can explore advanced runs such as No Gravity and the resort’s powder terrain. Off the slopes, Tomamu feels more like a complete winter resort than a simple ski hill: Ice Village, the Mina-Mina Beach indoor wave pool, snow activities and a large choice of restaurants give non-skiers and children useful alternatives when they want time away from the pistes.
Access is another practical advantage. Tomamu Station sits beside the resort, with limited express trains linking it to Minami-Chitose and Sapporo. From New Chitose Airport, the rail journey via Minami-Chitose can take about 90 minutes, followed by a short resort shuttle from Tomamu Station. Tokachi-Obihiro Airport is another option for travellers approaching from eastern Hokkaido.
Tomamu suits travellers who want reliable Hokkaido winter conditions without giving up comfort or convenience.
