Söll is one of the best-known gateways to SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, a huge linked ski area with 275 km of pistes and 81 lifts. From the Söll side, gondolas climb towards Hochsöll and the Hohe Salve, giving skiers quick access to a network that links eight villages across the Wilder Kaiser and Brixental. The area is particularly strong for intermediates and mixed groups who want lots of groomed mileage, modern lift infrastructure and plenty of mountain huts rather than a high-altitude glacier experience.
The Hohe Salve is the key local mountain. Its summit reaches 1,829 m and offers wide views across the Kitzbühel Alps, Wilder Kaiser and Hohe Tauern. Söll also has one of the most distinctive evening ski offers in Austria: around 10 km of floodlit pistes make it the country’s largest night-skiing area. The evening operation uses a separate ticket and adds another option for skiers who want more than a standard daytime programme.
Beginners and families have dedicated learning terrain including the Hexenwiese practice area, while confident intermediates can use Söll as a starting point for long days exploring the wider SkiWelt. The trade-off is altitude. Söll village sits at about 703 m, considerably lower than Austria’s highest resorts, so lower runs are naturally more exposed to mild weather than high-alpine terrain.
Access is practical for a large Austrian ski area. Innsbruck is the nearest airport, with Salzburg and Munich also commonly used. By rail, Söll is reached via stations such as Wörgl or Kufstein followed by bus, taxi or transfer; official regional information puts the Wilder Kaiser villages at roughly 20 minutes from the nearest main railway stations.
For intermediates, groups and skiers who value piste mileage, lively evenings, mountain huts and easy access to a very large linked area, Söll is one of SkiWelt’s strongest bases.
